In his canon all the gods exist as a race which was here before mankind evolved to what we are today. They are immortal and possess incredible technology and magic abilities. They don't always care about the welfare of humans. They can gift humans with immortality and take it away as well. This often leads to a master servant relationship as they typically don't wish to bother with the mortal world (or are bared from it) yet still find need to maintain an influence on it.

Palamedes' Elder master is Tammuz, called The Green Man. Tammuz "gifted" Palamedes with immortality as a punishment for some old crime that is never defined. In fact, their relationship is fairly antagonistic oddly enough. To quote, "My master does not like me. He made me immortal and condemned me to wander the Shadowrealms as a punishment for an old, old crime."

What follows now is my speculations and is not book canon unless noted.

On his crime:
In many of the Arthurian myths Palamedes, like King Pellinore, hunts the Questing Beast. Most often his hunt is fruitless but in the Post-Vulgate he is successful in his hunt and with the help of Percival and Galahad, slays the Questing Beast. Perhaps this is the crime for which Tammuz punishes him. Perhaps the Questing Beast is something akin to the forest spirit in Princess Mononoke and the punishment makes Palamedes into a sort of reluctant protector of the forests. If this is the case, then how does this tie into Gawaine?

ETA: Palamedes says he has been immortal since before the time of Arthur so this won't work.

Often Gawaine is credited with killing Palamedes during the Grail Quest. Obviously this didn't happen for his canon but I can see a antagonism existing in it's place but what of Sir Gawaine and the Green Knight then? Would Tammuz, aka The Green Man have been the Green Knight? Or would that have been Cernunos? Which could explain the antagonism. Additionally, knights that were sworn to the same master fought all the time (either on their own, due to oaths or by magical influence) in the myths so it wouldn't be unheard of.

Oh his character:
In the books when we first meet Palamedes, his is quite clear in his dislike of Nicholas Flamel and he takes great pains to avoid this fight Flamel is involved in. Fan opinion seems to run that this is because Palamedes serves balance but I disagree. I think it is because Palamedes is sick of war and the price innocents always pay. Basically after nearly 1500 years he's seen too much. He is still a warrior and will fight when called by those he cares for or to right an injustice but he doesn't believe that ideologies are a reason for fighting. Still fighting is all he's known and so he is very skilled in all manner of weapons (melee and fire arms), unarmed combat, and the use of animals in combat as well as vehicles.

What eras/adventures to have Palamedes experience as he moves through the ages to modern times:
Robin Hood? My first thought had been that he was the black knight in Ivanhoe but upon looking more closely to the story that wouldn't work as the black knight is King Richard in disguise. Tammuz does have ties with Sherwood forest and in fact in modern times that is where the entrance to his Shadowrealm is.

Charlemagne: Palamedes does have ties with Brittany as he went with Lancelot to France and ruled there before the final battle.

Grimm Fairytales. Protecting the Black Forest maybe?

Renaissance England. Basically the period within which he meets William Shakespeare. He would have had to have met William during William's writing career as it's been said that Othello was written in Palamedes' honor.

Ottoman Empire. Revisiting his childhood home?

The American Civil War? I can see Palamedes being drawn to the fight to end slavery in America. However he seems more tied to England and Europe so I'm doubtful of this.

Wild West of the Americas.

The Mexican Revolution, i.e. Zorro. Could be fun...or not.

World War 1: I'd have to research this a bit to see if anything jumps out at me. I could simply have him fighting and not bother with details.

World War 2: I can definitely see him in the French Resistance.

Aside from these historical events I'm thinking I'll just have him wander in in whatever historical period costume to reflect when he is but not bother with OOMs or mentioning any adventures in thread.
